We caught up with Collateral Music to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.
Let's get to it...
I enjoy being able to work around my own schedule
And make the music that I want to make
I love the experience of being able to meet new people and the challenge of getting to play gigs!
I managed to turn my basement into my recording studio
In the studio, I have an Alesis V49 midi keyboard, Alesis drums, a Dean Zelinsky guitar, my Fender Stratocaster, my Fender acoustic, my rogue acoustic, my isolation booth, my Akai P-180 condenser mic, my Fender amp...
And a Behringer Uphoria Um2!
I use Soundtrap to record and mix, Landr to master, and Distrokid to upload
If I had to pick...
I would choose performing and promoting live!
I love the environment that it creates, and the feeling of being on stage with dozens of eyes on you is absolutely surreal...
But if you mess up on stage, it can ruin the entire vibe so quickly!
Meanwhile when you record, you can always re-record
I think both are important, because if people really enjoy the music that I play, I want them to have something nice that they can take home and listen to
"Wow, this album is incredibly special. Definitely a keeper! Way to go @CollateralMusic!"
Oh absolutely! You have to plan...
Planning is part of what makes a release special!
If you want to grow your fanbase, I think that getting the fans that you have already hyped up and excited for a new release is part of what's gonna make that release so special
There is nothing compared to the feeling of anticipation when you've been waiting for an artist to release new music
It's like you count down the days until the project is released...
And when it's released it feels like the coolest thing in the whole world
Get ready for a brand new album!
It's in the works right now, and I think people are really gonna enjoy this!
I have a few places I've worked with, where I know I can get good gigs at...
Nothing is set in stone, but when it is I'll be sure to post it on my website...
Stay tuned everyone!
Yes!
I've been working close with a director...
And hopefully, I'll have some upcoming lyric videos in the next few months...
All I can say for now is stay tuned!
There are a few songs that have some of my friends featured but nothing huge
I like to work alone so that I have total creative control
Life!
That's such a simple answer because there's so much that goes on in my life that is just the fuel for my music...
Love, heartbreak, depression, anxieties, dark thoughts, relationships lost, friends gained...
It's not always about me and my life, but I'd like to think that every good story has a little bit of truth
Parachutes by Coldplay
O by Damien Rice
And Welcome Interstate Managers by Fountains of Wayne
These albums all have a way of making pop music sound so much more alternative...
Not to mention I love music from the early 2000s! So these albums hit the home run no doubt!
Well, I'm usually a one-man show!
But my dad helps me out all the time
It's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of and have someone who's always free to help me out
Not to mention, my dad's a cool dude, so whenever we work together we usually have some fun doing it
There's never been a video shoot or a performance that he couldn't make me smile at, or find some way to help me!
