We caught up with Kay-Bee to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

Well seeing how I have not ever been signed to a label...

I'd probably say freedom to make music my way, with no one trying to sway me.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

Currently I go to studios!

I don't have my own yet...I'm not Russ! lol!

But I do hire studios and have go-to engineers.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I will start with the one I hate the most and that is promotion!

So I probably like performing the most!

And then I would next have to go with recording and production.

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

My last single would be best described in a tweet with the following caption...

"Music for a Pandemic".

Yea that part!

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

Well I would say that my plan is every week to drop a song!

I have been stacking them up, and pretty much know which one I will be dropping next!


This allows for me to have artwork, promo, videos, etc...prepared and ready.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

Well if we go by the numbers...

There should be 24 songs released by that time.

Gigwise, none at the moment!

Maybe when Covid-19 passes, or when if I ask her & she says it's a good idea!

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

I plan to only do videos when a song pops.

When my fans demand for a video is high, then I will drop them.

I currently have two videos up on YouTube.

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

I'm excited about my collabs with my beat maker by the name Yung Nab.

I've created a sound with his beats!

They seem to inspire and speak to my music style.

I've found another beat maker by the name of Kofi Cooks.

And I can't wait to see what I cook up from that!

What inspires your creative process?

I would have to say the music...

The beats are key for me!

Positive vibes and energy help also.

I guess I could even say my car, because I get a lot of ideas etc. from just driving around.

What are your top three favorite albums of all time & why?

Top three is hard man!

Normally people ask for your top MCs, so I'm gonna have to go with...

2Pac - All Eyez on Me
Nas - Illmatic
and 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

I chose these three based on how much I played and listened to these albums in my lifetime.

Hard question! But we ain't never scared!

Who makes up your existing creative team?
