We caught up with Kvn Lee to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.
Let's get to it...
Being able to create whatever type of content that I want.
I also love the grind! Working in all aspects to get my name out there and to be heard.
Only the strong survive!
And I love pushing myself to prove I got what it takes.
I have a go-to studio with someone in particular I like to work with.
My studio sessions are with my manager and my go-to engineer.
Occasionally I'll have a few other people with me!
When I go to record, I love to be fully immersed in what I'm doing, no distractions, just being present in the moment.
I love all aspects, to be honest!
There are definitely two types of different feels I get from each!
As far as the ability to hear the beat, the extra or lack of noise...things like that!
Something they both have in common though, an aspect that I feed off of, is rapping the song.
And being fully present at that moment.
It's hard to describe what that feeling is...
It's just something special!
My latest project, Level 10 EP, has six songs all with different vibes showcasing my ability to create different sounds.
People have told me that the EP is "therapeutic" and "genuine".
I think that those who listen to it would describe it as...
"a project that's a must listen to!"
I'm an artist on the rise with real content and substance.
And I think people would endorse and say encouraging things through their tweets.
Planning is everything!
I like being strategic and having a game plan, that's what sets me apart from a lot of people out here trying to make music.
I write a lot but I like to release music that's relevant to what I'm going through in life...the current season I'm in!
Definitely more visuals and collaborations.
I've got a couple music videos and features out with other artists, but that's something I want to improve on.
It's not that I didn't care about those two aspects, it's just that I have been more so focused on improving my craft, my pen, and my sound.
Now that I'm more confident in my ability to create dope stuff, I'm ready to branch out and do other things.
Yea I got a few in mind!
The first video I've already dropped this year is for my song called "Loyalty", the first track off the EP.
Afterward, I'm gonna follow up with more, you just gotta stay tuned in!
I have a dope collab with two solidified artists from around the way in KBeta and Big Benz called "DTLR2".
That track is mad dope and I'm thankful for the opportunity to be on a song with two great emcees.
Going forward I'm definitely trying to collab with more creatives in general, both artists and producers.
One thing I'm really looking forward to is working with regular and alternative R&B types of artists.
I love that vibe!
And I think that whoever I work with...
We're gonna make a hit!
Depending on the mood and the type of day, sometimes I'll play music from other artists that fit my mindset.
From there I ask myself, how would I convey these thoughts that I'm feeling and put them into my words.
I also like to let the music, the beats, talk to me...
Sometimes the beats fit how I'm feeling...
And sometimes they don't, but to me, it's essential that I find and write to beats that currently reflect my present state.
It's how I believe I'm able to create music with such feeling and authenticity because I'm in that present moment writing from the heart.
Dang, this is an extremely hard question to answer.
I love music too much to just have a top three favorite albums of all-time!
I listen to a wide range of artists and different genres, so to choose three isn't fair! Lol!
For the sake of this question though...I'll choose:
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Outkast - Aquemini
And Michael Jackson's - HIStory album.
All three of those artists have inspired me in many ways, impacted my life for the better, and I'm appreciative of their contributions to music.
I like to work with a lot of different photographers and video directors.
Helps to keep my feeds fresh and unique!
Someone I gotta shout out is my manager, 1Shot Mike!
He helps a lot, coming up with different ideas for visuals and with suggestions on my music, things of that nature.
I'm thankful for him so shout out to 1Shot!
