We caught up with Mellow Mellone to talk about his music.

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

Creative freedom.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I use a home studio with industry-standard equipment for the best results.

As far as gear...I would need a specific question about what gear I use...I use different types!

I never hire a studio, everything as far as engineering is in-house. I am experienced in this and I trust myself and my team.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I enjoy recording, production and performing.

Promotion is not something I love to do!

But it's a part of what I do as an independent artist!

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

"An emotional and intuitive masterpiece that can be enjoyed from front to back with no skips."

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I always plan out my releases unless something in the moment tells me that I should release a song right away...but that is rare!

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

Several singles and a new mixtape...

I want to do more gigs in the near future but that is a struggle due to covid!

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

I have a new music video on YouTube now called 'Zooted'.

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

I'm currently more focused on solo work.

What inspires your creative process?

Hearing a beat that I really like inspires my creative process.

I get excited to compliment the music in ways only I know how.

What are your top five favorite albums of all time and why those albums?

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo

They are amazing pieces of work that I can listen to on any day.

And the third 'And Beauty Is Pain' is my best-unreleased work and I can listen to it the same way I can listen to the other 2!
