We caught up with QC to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

Let's get to it...

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

The flexibility to create the music I want, how I want it, and when I want it.

As an independent artist, the control I have over the success or otherwise of my brand is motivation and spur and it definitely has a different sense of fulfilment when the rewards come i.e my songs being added to a playlist.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I have a mini studio that I work in at home.

My microphone is like my sword going to war, I take extra care of it and I perfect my songs with an in-studio engineer.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I enjoy all the faucets to being an artist. As a creative, watching an idea come to life physically is a testament to every human being's natural capabilities. I enjoy recording, producing, promoting my songs, and seeing people's reactions and I am most definitely looking forward to live performances.

How would you describe your latest project in a tweet?

Pac told me to Go, Nip told me to run...I am telling my stories on this mic, going for mine, no matter the obstacle!

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I plan my releases and as an artist, I keep my projects thematic.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

I am currently working on my first full body of work, a 6 track project and I am not disclosing the name yet hahaha!

And hopefully, gigs start again after this pandemic! I am so excited for my first gig (throwing it into the universe).

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

I have the video for Go in the pipelines and that should be dropping before the end of February.

Are there any collaborations past or future that you are excited about, producers, artists, instrumentalists, or songwriters?

I have a couple of producers like Mr Kevin and I have linked up with Strangerthings, a Canadian producer via soundcloud which was a humbling moment really.

What inspires your creative process?

Life generally, the things I have been through.

The greatest human act is to inspire!

All material I put out has its foundation based on deliberately touching a soul to go and do better for themselves, regardless of obstacles.

What are your top three favorite albums of all time?

Crenshaw - Nipsey Hussle
Stoned Immaculate - Curren$y
Pain Plus Work - GINO

Who makes up your existing creative team?
i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout out?

EVERYBODY! Y'll know yourselves...

Where can we find you on social media?

You can reach me on Twitter @mellorecords and on Instagram @qc_mellorecords and you can subscribe to my youtube channel QC Topic.
