We caught up with SG 987 to talk about his music.

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

I can do what I want musically, I own all my masters and I’m in control of my career.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I have an Apple desktop with a microphone & pro tools 11 program...

And an m-audio microphone with an SE filter.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

Honestly I enjoy it all!

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

Hidden drip!

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I plan them out!

Weeks, months, & even sometimes years in advance!

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

I’m sitting back masterminding my next move & I don’t put time limits on myself when I’m in that process.

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

Yes! I gotta video out with Gunna titled 'Pots & Pans' it’s at 12 thousand views right now hopefully it will hit 12 million in this lifetime!

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

I’m reaching out to artists on the daily...big names & locals! I’m all about spreading positive energy through the art of music.

And spreading my voice and movement throughout the states & different countries.

What inspires your creative process?

Reaching people through my music on a positive note!

What are your top three favorite albums of all time and why those albums?

Nas - It Was Written
'Cause the body of work...top to bottom was an open book.
It gave you an insight into everything about him and what he’s emerging from. Extremely dope album!

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
Same thing...his formula on that album, you can hear the greatness!
And the fact he was 27 when he dropped that album will always sit well with me...an all-around great project!

T.I - Urban Legend
A great body of work, a lot of heavy hitters on that album!
Production was fire as well!
I’ve been a big fan of T.I for a long time.

Who makes up your existing creative team?
i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout-out?

I do everything myself! I haven’t made it to that point yet!

I think once you get rich...them type of people come running to you!
