We caught up with Showtim3 to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

Let's get to it...

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

The number one thing I enjoy most is the creative freedom of being an independent artist.

I like to tell stories and give the public a sense of direction with my words that can be conveyed into a movie in their imagination.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

My engineer is Xavier “Ghostmane” Ivey.

We have been working together out of his studio, BlackRoom studios, out of Atlanta, GA...

And the chemistry over the last 5 years has created my sound!

I wouldn’t want to typically lose that trust and sound by going somewhere else.

He updates his gear and adapts his style per industry standard, so he helps me to reinvent myself...

As he does with his style as a student of the game!

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I like all the aspects of our craft!

I enjoy them evenly!

But the production and recording aspect is definitely my favorite...

As it's the artistic process that keeps everything fresh mentally.

Now performing live is another entity in itself!

That’s a close second, as seeing the reaction is a rush in itself...

And to vibe with the crowd it’s nothing like it!

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

"????????????????????????"

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I plan out everything.

It’s a reason behind every album, single, and tracklist.

And plays into the next release.

I have put out a song here and there also based on emotion because music is also my therapy!

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

Yes, I will get back to performing...

This pandemic has placed me in a bind but a good one!

It’s made me more aware and accepting of trying to expand my comfort zone.

I have two singles releasing and one more in the summer!

And I will be in the studio wrapping up my next album.

All in all the next 6 months! It will be hectic and exciting!

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

I plan on doing two music videos...

More of a movie theme as well! But it’s in the works!

My song 'That Work!', and 'No Friend Zone' will be my next two videos...

That’s already stamped!

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

Yes, I got my bro, Bo Benny, on 'No Friend Zone'.

And also I got a surprise up my sleeve for the summer...Just wait and see!

But this year has been great!

And the album just released about 3 months ago and is already over 500k...

That was a compliment in itself!

What inspires your creative process?

Life itself is my creative process!

I tend to write about my life, and also what’s going on in pop culture.

I am inspired by a lot and can be triggered by any situation and vibe with many different types of music.

So anything can trigger my creative juices...*pause*...lol!

What are your top three favorite albums of all time and why those albums?

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon
And Kanye West - Graduation.

Those albums all hit home in a significant manner and affected me tremendously, mentally and emotionally.

Also, Eminem is the reason I picked up a pen...

And J. Cole is the reason I kept it!

Who makes up your existing creative team?
i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout-out?

Honestly...

The late great, Darrell “Byrd” Caldwell

Nigel “Bez” Lee

Bentley Fortune

Justin Bess

And Courtney Gray.
