We caught up with SiKE 951 to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians. Let's get to it...

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

The peace of having creative control.

It's essential I believe, for me, to learn where I flaw and succeed in my craft.

It's a lot easier to fail and to learn with your own creative control.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I have my own one that recently went to sh*t!

So I'm working out the kinks, and I've been having to outsource this past week.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

Both!...more recording than anything though.

In my space, tuned, and focused is where I love to be!

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

"Intuitive"..."honest"...and "transparent".

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

Finish and release it!

I think I haven't reached a core fan base just yet...

So I'm workin' to promote as much as I can at this point.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

I got a show in Memphis on March 22nd...that's gonna be dope!

And from there I hope to win the contest and go to Miami for the final round.

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

Not yet, but as soon as I finish the show, I'll be shooting a music video for a track I have, called 'Played In The Dark'.

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

Not yet :/

My all time dream collab would be with Dizzy Wright though.

What inspires your creative process?

My past emotions!

I was too self-conscious to express myself in certain situations in my life and that now fuels my music.

I've now been confident enough to shed light on certain things which I believe will help others in the up-and-coming generations to be able to express themselves...and others do relate I believe!

What are your top favorite albums of all time and why those albums?

Dizzy Wright 'SmokeOut Conversations' for sure was inspirational, relatable, and edifying for sure!

As far as any others I'm not too sure...

I usually just dig tracks and when one catches my attention I'll then follow the artist as a whole.

Who makes up your existing creative team?
i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout-out?

Nope..just me for now!

Where can we find you on social media?

I'm on Soundcloud...Soundcloud.com/sike951.
