We caught up with SpenDoe to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

Let's get to it...

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

Creativity!

Coming up with your own ideas, and building from your own vision.

This is something we all must embrace as creators of music.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I work out of quite a few studios, so there’s always a different setup.

Truth be told, every setting is unique in its own way.

One day I might be in a studio surrounded by keyboards, sound modules, drum machines, etc...

Then the next day, I may be recording in an empty room with only a laptop, interface, and a microphone.

At Sand Wash Studios everything is legit.

At Done Deal Digital everything is legit.

You get different sounds at different places...

DJ UlTIM8M is my long-term collaborator as a producer and engineer.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I really enjoy recording and production.

I enjoy performing live and promoting myself.

And I believe that the pandemic has made that aspect of music a headache!

Hopefully everyone can get back to the live performances soon...

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

With “SERVIN” everything is west coast!

From the Bay Area to Los Angeles...I’m bringing forth that Cali sound.

It’s a gritty, underground, west coast project from start to finish.

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

For the most part, I plan all my releases.

Then there's times where I randomly drop songs.

It truly depends on what I’m feeling, and what I’m trying to accomplish at that moment.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

I always have music coming.

There are a few singles I just dropped, actually...

“Winnin,” and “Lonely” are my two latest singles that dropped a week apart.

I have a single called “To The Top” that’s on the way, a group project with Bay Area rapper Day Day, Mob Talk (EP)...

And another project titled “Stay Focused.”

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!

Presently, I have a music video for the single “Lonely.”

I have four other music videos out from my previous release titled “Surviving The Mob Era” which is a collection of pre-recorded music I dropped recently.

Are there any collaborations past or future that you are excited about, producers, artists, instrumentalists or songwriters?

I love to collaborate.

I’m really excited about dropping two songs I have ready.

I recently collaborated with Krazy (504 Boyz), and another song I collaborated with Young Bleed.

Those are two tracks I hope to drop ASAP.

I know Krazy probably wondering what the heck is going on with that track?

Shout out Krazy!

That’s a good brother, right there!

What inspires your creative process?

Life inspires me...

Reflections…

The ups, the downs, the in-between!

The past, the present, and the future!

Everything plays a role in how we perceive things, how we feel about ourselves, and what we think and feel about the world around us.

What are your top three favorite albums of all time?

Dr. Dre - The Chronic
DJ Quik - Safe & Sound
Marvin Gaye - I Want You

Who makes up your existing creative team?i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout out?

DJ ULTIM8M (Producer), Sand Wash studios (Studio), Done Deal Digital (Label), Feady Crocka (BARStudio), The Fast 1(Executive Producer), Spin Rich/FMZ Brandz (Label), R. Sol and The Wavy Guys (Video Directors), Sureet Sandhu at Digital Desi Productions (Producer), C-Dubb (Producer), DeviozBeats559 (Producer), Day Day & Connectin Tha Streets Ent., Krazy, Shane Christian Roth, David Michael Craver Jr., and LYA Graphics (Cover Design), Music Mondays/ZombSlays, and Tortous @ Siccness.net.
