We caught up with Josh, on half of the music duo Split Head, to talk about their music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

Let’s get to it…

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

Me and Aiden both love the freedom that comes with it.

We can do whatever we want, and truly explore our art without limits.

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

We have a home studio where we create all of our own music.

We use Logic X as our primary DAW…

And we absolutely love our Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen).

We both have bass guitars and guitars, for recording.

I (Josh) use a Schecter Hellraiser.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

Both of us really love to perform live, we also love doing all the behind-the-scenes work for a live show, so I guess it’s a little bit of both.

We are both interested in the technical aspect of music quite a bit.

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

BDUBs slander…

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

We usually plan our releases.

We used to just finish a track and release it…

But then we figured out that we can make everything a little more organized and thought-out if we plan first.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

We have a lot planned for the next 6 months…

We have an album planned, and a lot of gigs planned!

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!

Of course!

We are working on a video right now…

I can’t say much about it, so here’s our latest project…

Are there any collaborations past or future that you are excited about, producers, artists, instrumentalists or songwriters?

We have a few people who we plan to have on some songs.

And we are excited to have joyful.noiz on a song with us.

What inspires your creative process?

Everything inspires us!

The world and how it works inspires us!

What are your top three favorite albums of all time? Why those albums?

“Blood Sugar Sex Magik” – The Red Hot Chili Peppers

“Kiss My Super Bowl Ring” – The Garden

And “Dook*e” – Green Day are all albums we’ve been listening to a lot lately.

It’s really hard to narrow our favourite albums down to three…

But we chose those ones today because those are huge influences for Split Head.

Who makes up your existing creative team?i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout out?

Josh and Aiden do everything!

Hailey is our photographer and pretty much does everything we can’t do…

Where can we find you on social media?

And our Youtube is Split Head
