We caught up with Tribe Mafia to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

Tribe Mafia famous quote..."Being indie is great because it allows us our right to freedom. Freedom to express yourself. You get to say what goes."

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

We go to our studio engineer who has been recording us for almost 10 years.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

We enjoy doing both.

Studio recording for people who don’t go out and see live performances.

Our live performances are to show love to the people who want to see us win and they are there with us every step of the way.

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

"Tribe Mafia is breaks in Dancehall, Latin-trap, hip-hop, Afro-beat, and Pop music scene."

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

We definitely plan out our releases, this helps us decide which promotional tactic and schedule to use when releasing upcoming songs and projects.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

More music videos. Movie placements, our debut appearance on our first tv show. Two albums “it’s a tribe ting” dancehall. And our debut most anticipated rap album “Wampum.”

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

Yes. Be on the look out for two of our latest music videos coming out soon from our sophomore album “It’s a Tribe Ting”.

We will be rolling out “Testify” ft. Sam Sage and Hitta Castro.

This music video was directed by Erik Sattler (@nvisionfilms on Instagram) in Austin Texas.

Our second music video will be released 4 weeks later after 'Testify'.

The song is called “Hurt” ft. Rora Wilde and this music video was directed by Jess T. Johnston, shot in Los Angeles, California.

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about? Producers, artists, instrumentalists, or songwriters?

Kwalidi. She’s an amazing producer from New York. Every time we talk its good vibes. We can’t wait or show you guys her stuff.

What inspires your creative process?

Traveling.

Whenever we travel we always pick up new inspiration to create based on what environmental space we are surrounded by.

We find it fun to create in the moment.

What are your top five favorite albums of all time? Why those albums?

Teeepee Gang by Tribe MafiaIt’s our freshman album. It really helps people understand who is in Tribe Mafia collectively.

Tribe Mafia is a hip hop duo.

The members comprise of Chinasa Broxton and Carlos “Dashawn Daniels” Moore.

Who makes up your existing creative team?
