We caught up with Troof Da God to talk about his music. At Indiy we champion musicians.

Let's get to it...

What do you enjoy most about being an independent musician?

It’s the freedom for me!

If we were to peek over your shoulder, what does your studio look like? What gear do you typically use?

I have a home studio...

A Mac running pro tools or logic, Scarlett interface & a microphone.

It’s a very simple studio!

But I use my good friend at Palace Recordings, Malcolm Westmoor aka Yogi Split the infamous for my final cuts.

Do you enjoy recording and production, or do you like performing live and promotion?

I get into different moods...

With all this Covid controversy I find shows to be a bit less energetic.

The recording process makes me feel like a mad-scientist so that’s my favorite part!

Don’t get me wrong I love a lit MoshPit! Yikes!

How would you want people to describe your latest project in a tweet?

Yikes Mode is now upon us....

Do you plan your music releases, or do you just finish a song and release it?

I usually drop at the beginning of each season...

Or right before a holiday to give my projects the chance to be theme based.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Any releases planned? Future gigs?

Just be on the lookout for 'Yikes Mode' EP dropping in March.

Are you planning any videos for your music? Are there any videos we need to know about!?

You can find my older video on YouTube by searching Troof Da God but I am planning a new video with a fellow artist...Stay tuned!

Are there any collaborations, past or future, that you are excited about?

I’m excited & proud of all my collaborations.

I’m truly ready to do a complete solo project.

What inspires your creative process?

God & my children keep me going.

Butterfingers are a big part of my creative process as well. Lol!

My woman is my muse & strength when it comes to the love songs I create.

What are your top three favorite albums of all time and why those albums?

My number 1 favorite album is “Purple Haze” by Cam’ron.
The production & overall tone of the album fit what I was going through at the time during my early high school years!

“Fire” by MAC E11n is by far the most sophisticated grunge alternative in the modern era.

And “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” is the best album in the world when it comes to a complete message & pure cohesiveness. The queen's talent is unparalleled.

Who makes up your existing creative team?
i.e. photographers, video directors, social media managers, paid media specialists, stylists, hair, and makeup…Name someone who you think deserves a special shout-out?

I have to shoutout Palace Recordings very own...Malcolm Westmoor!

For dope studio sessions & perfected mixes!

The Tribe, of course, for setting up shows & keeping the wave alive.

My beautiful team at DvRK DvST Inc, where I am the CEO, but it’s more like family.

And my barber, Justin Diggs...always keeps me fresh & crispy.
